The military academy is generally regarded as one of the premier institutions in America. Think West Point, Annapolis, and the uniformed Richard Gere in the film "an officer and gentleman". But is traditional military culture at these schools out of step with the rest of society? This is the belief of Bruce Flemming, He's an english professor at the US Naval academy in Annapolis. He says the service academies are a net loss to the taxpayers who finance them, as well as a huge disappointment to their students, who come expecting reality to match reputation.
